Most people who need a CPR card are not putting it off because they do not care. They are putting it off because every class they find is on a Tuesday at 10:00am and they work on Tuesday at 10:00am. So the card sits expired, the employer keeps asking, and the whole thing turns into a problem it never needed to be.
If you are near Crystal Lake, Woodstock, or Johnsburg and your schedule is the only thing standing between you and a current AHA card, here is how to work around it.
Classes Run Seven Days a Week
Classes at Links4Life run seven days a week, roughly 9:00am to 6:30pm. That includes Saturday and Sunday. Weekend classes are available on request, so if the weekend is the only thing that works for you, say so when you book and it gets scheduled around that.
There is also no waiting list. That is worth spelling out, because a lot of people assume a weekend or late afternoon slot means waiting three weeks for an opening. You are picking from what is actually available, not getting added to a queue behind twelve other people.
Open times are on the booking calendar at calendly.com/links4life. If you do not see what you need there, a call or text sorts it out faster than clicking around.
How Long You Are Actually Committing To
The other reason people stall is that they picture losing a whole day. These classes are shorter than that:
- BLS Renewal, $79, 45 to 60 minutes. The fastest option if your BLS card is current or recently expired. It requires your HeartCode Part 1 online completion certificate first.
- BLS Provider, $85, 90 minutes. The healthcare provider level course, from the start.
- Heartsaver First Aid, $95, 1 to 2 hours. First aid for people who are not healthcare providers.
- Heartsaver CPR AED, $95, 2 to 3 hours. Adult, child, and infant CPR plus AED use.
A BLS Renewal on a Saturday morning is under an hour. That fits between dropping kids somewhere and getting to the grocery store. Every price and class length is listed on the class prices page so you can plan your morning around the real number.
Do the Online Part Before You Come In
If you are booking BLS Renewal, this is the one step that decides whether your short class stays short. You need your HeartCode Part 1 online completion certificate finished and in hand when you arrive. Bring it printed or on your phone.
People who show up without it cannot do the renewal, and a weekend slot you fought to find gets wasted. Do the online portion on a weeknight, then use the weekend appointment for the skills session. Details on the whole sequence are on the BLS page.
Pick the Class Your Employer Is Asking For
Before you book anything, read the exact words on whatever form or email is asking for the certification. BLS and Heartsaver look similar from the outside and they are not interchangeable.
- Hospitals, dental offices, nursing programs, EMS, and most clinical roles ask for BLS Provider.
- Gyms, schools, day cares, restaurants, salons, coaching, and general workplace requirements usually mean Heartsaver CPR AED or Heartsaver First Aid.
See the Heartsaver CPR AED page and the Heartsaver First Aid page for what each one covers. If the form is vague, text a photo of it before you book. That is a two minute conversation that keeps you from taking the wrong class on the one free morning you had.
You Leave With the Card
Every class ends with a two year AHA card issued at the end of class. No waiting on mail, no logging into a portal later, no follow up email to chase. You finish the skills, you get the card, you send it to whoever needed it that same day.
Then write the expiration date down somewhere you will see it in two years. Almost everyone who ends up scrambling for a last minute class got there by not doing that.
If the Weekend Is Already Too Late
Sometimes the deadline is not next weekend, it is tomorrow. Emergency scheduling is $150 and is often available the same day or the next day. It costs more than a regular seat, and it is still cheaper than being pulled off a shift or losing a start date.
